The Strait of Magellan, is the most important natural passage between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
The Strait, in its whole length, 330 nautical miles, belongs to Chile although its eastern entrance is surrounded by argentine waters, but the international treaties of 1881 and 1984 allow access and sailing from and to the eastern mouth of the strait to vessels of all nations at any time and in any circunstances.
